How to Use Nic-Hit Gum

Chew the gum slowly until you notice a strong taste or tingling sensation. Do not chew continuously like regular gum.

Stop chewing and “park” the gum between your cheek and gum. Allow the nicotine to be absorbed through the lining of your mouth.

When the taste fades (after about 1 minute), begin chewing again until the taste returns. Repeat the chew and park process for approximately 30 minutes.

When the taste has completely disappeared and the nicotine has been released, dispose of the gum responsibly and out of reach of children.

General guidance

Always use this product as directed. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

How to Use:
  • Chew one piece of gum slowly and intermittently for about 30 minutes, using a chew and park technique
  • Bite the gum slowly once or twice, then “park” it between your cheek and gum
  • When the taste fades (after about a minute), chew again for a few chews, then park it again
  • Repeat this process until the nicotine has been released, then discard the gum responsibly and out of reach of children
Daily use guidance
  • Most people require 10 pieces of gum per day at the beginning
  • Do not exceed 20 pieces per day
  • Use a new piece of gum when the urge to smoke appears
Treatment progression
  • Gradually reduce the number of pieces used per day
  • Reduce usage until reaching 1–2 pieces per day, then stop
  • This process may take 2 to 3 months, but can take up to 6 months
  • Consult your doctor if you are having difficulty reducing your nicotine intake after 6 months

  • Do not use if you are under 18 years of age, an occasional smoker, non-smoker, or non-nicotine user
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have heart, thyroid, circulation, stomach, or mouth problems, high blood pressure, or if you are taking insulin or any prescription medicine
  • Do not use if you have temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ disorder)
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or nursing a child
  • If you think you are pregnant, stop using nicotine gum at once and consult your doctor

Safety Warnings
  • Nicotine is highly addictive
  • Avoid drinking acidic beverages (coffee, tea, soft drinks, alcohol, citrus juices) while chewing the gum, as they may interfere with effectiveness
  • Do not chew more than one piece at a time
  • Do not use if blister foil is punctured or damaged
  • Store under normal conditions away from direct light
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets
  • Do not use for more than six months without consulting a doctor
  • If irregular heartbeat, chest pain, or leg pain occurs, or if severe persistent stomach upset develops, discontinue use and consult your doctor immediately
  • Do not smoke or use nicotine patches or any other form of nicotine while using nicotine gum
  • As this is a chewing gum product, chewing may cause dental fillings to loosen and may aggravate mouth, tooth, or jaw problems. Consult your dentist if any of these occur
Overdose Warning

In case of overdose or if a child chews or swallows one or more pieces of nicotine gum, contact your doctor or local poison control centre at once. Young children are especially sensitive to the effects of even small doses of nicotine.

Symptoms of overdose may include:

  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Cold sweat
  • Dizziness
  • Disturbed hearing and vision
  • Mental confusion
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Marked weakness

  • This product may cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Nic-Hit can give the same side effects as other methods of consuming nicotine. The side effects generally depend on the intensity of the quantity you take.
  • Normal side effects may include hiccups, headache, nausea, local tingling or burning sensation in the mouth, changes in taste perception, dryness or increased amounts of saliva in the mouth or throat or feelings of indigestion
  • Common side effects may include irritability, aggression, impatience or frustration, anxiousness, restlessness, problem concentrating, sleep disturbance, increased appetite or weight gain, depression, urges to smoke, lowered heart rate, bleeding gums or dizziness
  • Less common side effects may include cough, pain or discomfort in the abdomen or chest, vomiting, flatulence or diarrhea, tightness or numbness of the throat and fatigue.
  • Rare side effects may include running nose, stuffiness, sneezing/wheezing (bronchospasm), bleeding, changes in how things smell, effort to breathe (dyspnea), skin flushing, cold sweat, eye irritation/ increased tear production. Pain/ tension or discomfort in muscles or joints, toothache, inflammation of the tongue or gums, damage to lining of the mouth, changes in the sound of your voice, palpitations or fast heart rate, decreased appetite, hypersensitivity (allergy) including rash and / or itching (pruritus, urticaria)
